Magnolia Outdoor Services is based in Columbia, and most of our work is inside a short drive of downtown. We work three different kinds of property here almost every week: century-old in-town lots with mature hardwoods and tight access, 1960s-through-1990s neighborhoods with tired irrigation and drainage nobody has touched since the house was built, and newer construction on the edges where the topsoil was scraped and the yard drains toward the slab.

Columbia sits on the Fall Line, where sandy Sandhills soils meet heavier Piedmont clay. That line runs through the city, which is why one property drains like a colander and another two miles away holds water for two days. Add mature oaks and pines that thin turf and complicate digging, and yards graded decades ago that now send water toward the house, and you get our three most common calls: drainage, irrigation, and turf that will not fill in.
