Shandon, Rosewood, and Heathwood are some of the best streets in Columbia and some of the tightest to work. Narrow side yards, alley approaches, detached garages, street parking, mature trees on every property line, and neighbors close enough to hear everything. Half of doing good work here is planning access, staging, and cleanup before a machine leaves the shop.

What that means for your project

We size equipment to the gate, not the job: compact track loaders and mini excavators where they fit, wheelbarrows and hand work where they do not, plywood and mats to protect turf and roots, and material staged in small loads instead of one pile that blocks the street for a week. It costs a little more labor and saves the yard.

Old houses, old water problems

Most of these homes predate any real stormwater plan. Gutters dump beside the foundation, crawlspaces stay damp, and the grade often falls toward the house because sixty years of mulch and soil got added to the beds. The fix is usually unglamorous: pipe the downspouts, correct the grade, and give water a defined path to the street or alley.
