Grade decides almost everything

Where water runs. Whether a patio stays flat. Whether a fence line reads straight. Whether a lawn drowns in July or dries out in August. We shape the ground first so the work built on top of it lasts.

What we grade and dig

• Regrading yards that hold water or fall toward the house

• Cut and fill for patios, sheds, shops, and building pads

• Raised, compacted embankments for fences, walls, and drives

• Slope correction, terracing, and erosion repair

• Trenching for drain lines, irrigation, low-voltage, and conduit

• Backfill, topsoil, and finish grade for sod, seed, or stone

How we do it

Grades get set with a laser, not by eye. Fill goes in lifts and gets compacted, so it does not settle into a low spot next spring. Around Columbia the soil can change from sand to red clay over a short distance, and the two behave nothing alike: sand drains fast and undermines, clay holds water and pushes it across the surface. That difference changes the plan, which is why we walk a site before pricing it.

Utilities, access, and cleanup

We locate before we dig, keep equipment on planned routes, and protect the parts of the property that are not part of the job. Spoil either gets used on site where it helps or hauled off, and the finished grade gets walked with you.
